Commentary An Impulsive Gene? My youngest son jumps from one task to another. Ask him to clean his room, he eventually quits because he becomes fixated on something. He can’t sit still for long. On the other hand, when he’s doing something he likes, he is fixated on it, sometimes barely taking in his surroundings or listening to others.

Commentary Hauntings on the High Seas Anything that haunts will usually frighten: and it doesn’t matter if it's a legend or an actual event in history. Still, which account will keep you up at night or make you wary of doing certain things such as going out on the open sea? No doubt, a real-life mystery such as the Mary Celeste can bring out the fear. But, in a twist of irony, it’s a legend that has had a lasting impact and may have affected the sailors' wellbeing.

That is until somebody – possibly a blogger on a cryptid or paranormal site – began to speculate that the Mothman is actually an alien.

The Use and Abuse of Cliff's Notes
Honest or Dishonest Education? Commentary There is something dishonest about Cliff Notes; however, it's not in terms of cheating. The yellow-and-black, annotated booklets are great guides for developing reading comprehension skills for a complex novel. It seems to work well after a student has read a chapter in a book and uses the booklet to get a clearer understanding of the story's plot. Also, teaching methods such as anticipatory reading (getting to know what's going to happen in the story before you actually read it) seems to work well with some of the questions it offers.

Love them or Hate Them: Teachers are Important Members of the Community It was the late 1990s and the economy was good. Everybody had money in their pockets and felt no qualm about spending. I, on the hand, never had to pull out money at the local bar and grills. All I had to do was mention I was a public school teacher and nearly every patron was willing to buy me a drink.
