It seems that we’ve spread an awful infection.

Brought on by our cancerous election.

Neighbors to your south, once tame and caring.

Are now burning bridges, the ones we are sharing.

We know where to place the obvious blame.

Sadly, they hold the cards to this selfish game.

An unjustified trade war with a loyal friend.

Treacherous backstabbing is about to begin.

Good for you, Canada for not pulling punches,

In retaliation for heightened priced lunches.

Please bear with us for four more years,

while we watch the idiocy bring endless tears

For in the end, this madness can be reversed.

Until then, we’ll live with this miserable curse.

I don’t condone our conduct, it’s senseless and mean.

Did we somehow forget there’s no ‘I’ in Team?

It’s sad what’s happening. Unnecessary trouble.

  • Excellent words on the situation

We don’t blame the people, but I do fear that if someone doesn’t take a stand it will be too late. Then what?

  • Wooohooooo congratulations on your Leaderboard placement! 🎉💖🎊🎉💖🎊

Richly and adamantly stated. You have many, including me, who agree with your sentiments. I do, however, fear the ability to reverse this madness after four years. Someone, please, deliver us from this nightmare of regression, bigotry, and ignorance.

Well said. My worry is that everyone is saying the same line "four more years" I have a feeling that if a certain person has their way it will be longer than that and This is something the American people may have to face and do something about before it is too late.

Rock on, Lamar! Can’t believe we have to put up with 4 years of sucking up to dictators and pissing on our friends and allies!

Amen to your author’s note—it’s so frustrating, and it’s embarrassing.

Amen to all of this, Lamar. What strange and tragic times we are living through.

    Thank you, my friend. 🤗

  • It's so surreal to be an American not in the states right now. It all feels a bit nightmarish, really excellent work here Lamar. Hopefully we'll all be still holding on in four years. -r

Well, done, Lamar. I agree with everything you said here.

Well-wrought! I think you meant to say you -don't- condone our conduct (heads up on a simple and understandable typo, which gets me all the time) and I agree. Unfortunately, a lot of people are having trouble accepting that these issues didn't start with the current "leader" or even in this century, but that his hapless narcissistic idiocy has exposed what's been going on behind a pretense of diplomancy for many decades. We need a viable third party, if not a fourth and a fifth, as well as viable independent candidates who can't be bought, if our representive form of democracy has any chance of surviving.

I can only imagine Lamar. 😕 I’m not in the States, but even I have to change the channel when there’s all the political hoopla. A relevant and peppy piece. Hope you are going well.
