Photo: mine

Mothers protect

Their children from

Knifing past

Watching one’s own

Scars awkwardly heal

Wonky welts fading

From angry red

To white

Mine spared me

Shielding from

Fractured family

I spared him from

Isolation and

Irrational fear

I wear a soul

Of softness

Sharpening blades

Is not my forte

Thankful for

Many small choices

Gently bending rivers

So that

Hard lines

In the sand

Only need to

Be drawn once

Awwww, first of all I freakin' love the photo 🫠🥹 you both are looking awesome seriously!! And your poem is really touching. This made me think about how people don’t always realize the quiet protection parents give us until much later. 💖
