Happy International Women's Day!

Today, I Want to Celebrate Real Women.  Not just the famous ones - but the women who quietly hold the world together

Cheers, WOMEN!

Every year, on International Women's Day, the world pauses to celebrate women.

Our timelines fill with beautiful messages. Inspirational quotes appear everywhere. We see phrases like “empowered women empower women.”

And yes, the celebrations matter.

But today, I find myself thinking about something deeper.

Courage.

The kind of courage it takes for a girl to dream in a world that often tells her to stay small.

The kind of courage it takes for a woman to rebuild her life when everything she trusted falls apart.

The kind of courage that never trends online but quietly shapes the future.

Today, I want to celebrate women - not just the famous ones, but the ones whose strength makes it possible for the rest of us to stand a little taller.

When we talk about powerful women, some names immediately come to mind.

These women remind us of something powerful:

One determined woman can change the world.

Today I Celebrate Women Who Refused to Stay Small

  • Women like Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, whose words have reshaped conversations about feminism, culture, and identity around the world.

  • Women like Malala Yousafzai, who stood up for girls' education even after surviving an assassination attempt.

These women deserve every bit of celebration.

But today, I also want to celebrate another kind of woman, the ones whose names may never trend online.

The Women Who Don't Make Headlines

I want to celebrate the single mother who works two jobs and still finds the time and energy to help her child with homework.

I want to celebrate the young girl in a rural village who walks miles to school because she believes education will change her life.

I want to celebrate the woman rebuilding her life after divorce, loss, or betrayal.

The woman who quietly feeds relatives who depend on her.

The woman who stands up again after society told her she wasn't enough and can't do enough.

These women will never be invited to global conferences, no.

But the world stands on their shoulders.

The Women Who Change Lives Quietly

Some women change the world in ways statistics will never capture.

A teacher who tells a struggling child, "You are capable."

A mentor who opens a door for a younger woman.

A sister who protects her siblings.

A friend who listens carefully when a loved one is falling apart.

These are not small acts.

These are the quiet revolutions that shape generations over and over again.

---

The Girls Who Will Shape Tomorrow

Every empowered woman today was once a girl who dared to believe she could be more.

This is why education matters.

This is why mentorship matters.

This is why opportunities for girls matter.

Because when a girl rises, she doesn't rise alone.

She lifts families.

 She lifts communities.

 She lifts nations.

A Personal Reflection

As someone who believes deeply in empowering girls and women, I have seen firsthand how a small opportunity can change a life greatly.

Sometimes it is school fees to keep them in class.

Sometimes it is encouragement so they stay even when life gets difficult.

Sometimes it is simply someone believing in a girl who had begun to doubt herself.

And when that girl finally finds her strength, the ripple effect is extraordinary.

Today, Celebrate the Women Around You

Yes, celebrate the global icons.

But also celebrate:

The woman who raised you.

The teacher who believed in you.

The friend who supported you when you almost gave up.

The girl who refuses to give up on her dreams.

They are the reason the world keeps moving forward.

Today is not just about famous women.

It is about every woman who kept going when life tried to stop her.

And that kind of strength deserves to be celebrated every single day.

Happy International Women's Day.

Well said. As a single dad who was raised by a single mom I appreciate this message. I want my daughter to have the same opportunities and safety as my boys, but I know she will face different obstacles. So my goal is to be raise her to be confident and assertive. I’m glad you wrote this. Definitely worthwhile and necessary.
