About this challenge
The Prompt
Create original song lyrics that use musical structure to tell a story.
Write your song lyrics in a way that makes the text sing. Focus on using rhythm, rhyme, and structured elements—verses, choruses, and bridges—to craft a narrative that unfolds like a well-composed piece of music. Let each line build emotion and drive the story forward, ensuring that your lyrics evoke both a melody and a message.
Push your creative boundaries by transforming your words into a lyrical journey. For bonus points, include an embedded audio or video recording from your favorite platform (Spotify, SoundCloud, Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube) of you performing your song, letting your voice bring the lyrics to life and adding an extra layer of artistry to your submission.

A Transparent Look at Vocal Challenges and Top Stories
Almost three years ago, we shared a resource article that served as a place for people to suggest new challenge prompts. We thought it would be a good idea to refresh that thread, and take the opportunity to answer a few common questions about top stories, how challenges are judged and how submissions are reviewed.

A System That Isn’t Working Challenge Winners
Systems promise order. They organize behavior, distribute opportunity, and suggest that if everyone follows the rules, things will work. The entries in A System That Isn’t Working look closely at what happens when that promise begins to slip.
